The vision of the Hurt Hub is to provide access and exposure to innovation and entrepreneurship for all. Similarly, the office of Davidson Arts and Creative Engagement (DACE) strives to integrate the arts into the daily lives of our students, faculty and staff. We believe that innovation is born from the intersection of deep empathy for others, problem solving, and creativity. Having a fellow focused on blending and extending our complimentary missions at the Hurt Hub and DACE allows us to illustrate for our audiences that the arts are and should be a key ingredient in innovation, entrepreneurship, and community development. Moreover, this role will be responsible for leading projects that highlight additional career paths for students interested in the arts, especially those who want to pursue entrepreneurship during and after their time at Davidson. 

Primary Responsibilities:

The Hurt Hub / DACE Fellow will split their time between responsibilities for each group identifying opportunities and executing on projects that satiate the missions of both groups, driving greater awareness and engagement with programming across our community. 

DACE: 20 hours/week

  • Be an advisor for the Arts Fellows Program - Organize retreats, meetings, programs, etc. and advise at least 2-4 of the fellows. 

  • Assist in the awarding, oversight, and implementation of student arts grants – SPIKE! AIR and the MAGIC Grants. 

  • Assist with the scheduling and implementation of DACE Advisory Board meetings. 

  • Collaborate with the Matthews Center for Career Development to expand the Careers in the Arts program. 


Hurt Hub: 20 hours/week

  • At least twice annually, produce educational events featuring entrepreneurs in the arts in collaboration with the Hurt Hub leadership team.

  • Establish a music series at the Hurt Hub in partnership with the Town of Davidson and the Hurt Hub Leadership team.

  • Collaborate with the Visual Arts Center (VAC) leadership team and student curators to produce at least two gallery shows in the Hurt Hub featuring student, faculty, staff, alumni, and/or community art.

  • Support the Hurt Hub leadership team’s effort to redesign outdoor signage featuring a call for local artist participation as part of Innovation Week. 

  • Support deeper student engagement through regular office hours, serving as a first point of contact to get students connected to the right resources at the Hurt Hub.



  • All applicants must be either a current Davidson senior who will graduate in the spring or a recent graduate who has been out of school for no more than two years.

    • Have “fun doing the impossible” and will embody an entrepreneurial spirit, enjoying the process of testing, learning and iterating to develop exceptional initiatives.
